About

I’m a Canadian living, working and studying in Scotland.

I tend to obsess about politics like other guys obsess about sports.  It’s an interest, a passion and a way of life.

It was Churchill that observed “Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains.”  Well, at the risk of appearing heartless, I became a conservative when I was 28 years old.  If you care to do the math, you can pinpoint my change of heart (mind?) to the weeks following September 11th, 2001.

Many conservative converts will say, ‘I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.  That’s only partially true in my case.  I moved to the right at a time when the Left seemed to move further left.  While the political gap between then and now is considerable, I don’t believe my ideals have changed all that much.

This blog is also an act of compassion directed at my friends and family.  Hopefully, this will provide an outlet for my politics so that I can engage them to less contentious topics of conversation such as
. . . the weather.
